When I arrived in America from Kinshasa 14 years ago, my family who was already living here did not have trusted financial education in their language. They had a mattress. That is where the money went. Not because they were not smart. Because every bank they had ever trusted had failed them back home.

My uncle worked every single day in America. He sent money home every month without fail. He sacrificed everything. And when he died — his children opened a GoFundMe. Not to invest his wealth. To pay for his funeral.

That is the reality for 47.8 million immigrants in America. Their children are their retirement plan. So their children cannot build wealth either. And when they die without a trust, without a will, without a single investment — the cycle starts over. From zero. Again.

I built Nawiri so that story never happens again. That is why I am here. That is why Nawiri exists.
